Edward W Brown, CPA, P.C.

Revised since my original review referred to more complete information in a review for the now defunct Brown and James firm which has been removed. Darryl James was a CPA with the firm "Brown & James" in 2010. I had previously prepared taxes professionally, but was unable to sort out my complicated three state (MD, DC, GA) state returns. I explained it was complicated and offered to find someone else if it was beyond the firms capability. After a long wait, my taxes were presented to me - obviously incorrect, I insisted they try again. After waiting until days before the filing deadline, I was again presented with incorrect taxes that they insisted were correct. Given the impending filing deadline I rolled the dice and submitted them. After receiving the not entirely unexpected tax notices from the states (notification of incorrect information) I called Brown and James multiple times. None of those calls were returned. Eventually I hired Anderson and Adkins who competently sorted the mess out. Despite another review on here from a few years back that states, "we have never brushed off a client," not only did they not respond to my phone calls, there was no response to my review other than to give themselves a five star review denying it happened. Ten years later I still haven't recieved an apology, let alone a refund for service that provided my nothing other than additional work. One star only because I can't give negative stars.

Ed Brown has prepared my taxes for the past 20 years, he’s very professional and I highly recommend him!

Ed Brown is not only a good CPA... he's a good man. I highly recommended him to anyone.
