Paradise Animal Hospital

I have been using Paradise for six years for my pets’ veterinary care, and when the previous doctor was there, I never ran into these issues. He was always extremely transparent with pricing and services, so this recent experience was especially disappointing. What should have been a simple routine check-up and vaccine appointment ended up taking 2 hours and 40 minutes, which is far too long, especially with a baby at home. I came in already expecting my dog likely had an ear infection and would need medication for that. However, I was given two additional medications without being asked, discussed with, or given the option to decline. My husband and I are on a strict budget after having a baby, so being charged $730 unexpectedly was extremely stressful. At no point was I informed of the cost beforehand or told what the total would be. I was also sent home with a cup to collect a stool sample because the staff could not collect one themselves, and then I was charged $37 for that sample kit. I do not have the flexibility to drop off a sample at random times due to childcare, so this added another layer of stress. I value good veterinary care, but communication and transparency are extremely important. I would have appreciated clear explanation, consent before adding treatments, and upfront pricing so I could make informed decisions. This experience left me feeling unheard and taken off guard. Because of this unexpected cost, we are now having to reschedule our other two dogs’ routine appointments and push them out a few months just to financially recover. This visit has directly impacted our ability to maintain their care as planned.

I am so grateful for the entire staff at Paradise Animal Hospital. Peggy listened to my urgent concern for my dog who was having abdominal pain. She managed to squeeze me in for a same day appoinment. The Veterinary Assistant, Jesse, reviewed the entire history of the situation and treated my dog as if he were her own. Jesse shared everything that they may need to do for my dog. I did not meet Dr. Henderson until after my dog was thoroughly evaluated in her office/treatment room. Dr. Henderson provided a systematic and detailed narrative of her findings. Although I did not witness the actual evaluation of my dog, I came away from the appointment confident in the care my dog received and that Dr. Henderson provided a practical and methodical diagnosis and treatment for my dog. The next day Dr. Henderson called to check on my dog and ensured me that she and her office would be available if I needed them. I did call them the following day, and, as promised, Jesse and Dr. Henderson were available to answer a question about the care for my dog. Thankfully, my dog is back to excellent health. I appreciate all of the help and treatment I received.

Dr Henderson and her staff are extremely friendly, understanding, and passionate about what they do. Anytime my dog's had an issue, Dr. Henderson and her staff accommodate us as quickly as possible. The reliability and expertise Dr. Henderson provide are invaluable. Stryker and I really appreciate you and the rest of the Paradise staff !
